How and Why Woodstock Motors is different to other bodyshops
At Woodstock Motors we are neither the cheapest nor the most expensive. But before you use us you need to understand how and why we work the way we do. Bodywork consists of parts/materials and labour. When it comes to painting materials everyone is paying more or less the same price. Where people can make a saving is on the labour. Let’s take a scenario like a wing that needs spraying up. A more expensive place will buy a brand new wing regardless of whether it can be repaired or not, spray it up and fit it. You should get a good job but it will be for a premium price because of the huge cost of a new wing. A cheaper place might pull the wing out as best they can, use a lot of filler and then mask it up and spray it in situ. This will give you a cheap job but it will not be to the same standard as original.
Our approach is to first repair the wing and pull it into as-new shape, then we use minimal filler to get the profile perfect on and then we spray it up off the car.
We avoid masking-up because masking-up causes more problems
We do not mask up. Masking up causes means you get lines at the paint borders and you get dust everywhere all over the car. The professional way if to take the panel off the car, spray it and put it back on. We recently had a customer who got a cheap respray only to require two days of cleaning to get rid of all the dust and overspray. We quote for the right amount of time to do the job correctly.
Another problem with masking-up and spraying in situ is polisher damage. When people use the polisher on a wing in situ it ends up “polishing” everything else so you end up with wax on windows, headlights and rubber. This then all needs to be cleaned to get the car to perfect condition. Beware anyone who wants to mask up and spray in situ.
How we save you money on car body repair at our car bodyshop in North London
Most dealers will simply swap out an old panel for a new one. As mentioned above, we use a special piece of equipment called an E.C.O. which pulls the panel out to its original profile, after which it can be filled, smoothed and sanded. This means you get a much better repair than a traditional hammer-out-and-fill, but you save the cost of an expensive new panel.

Most car body repair shop work takes 2-3 days so we can provide you with a loan electric car free of charge while your car is being repaired. We seek your approval on all repairs to ensure the car looks the way you think it should. If you need us to take a look at your car and see what needs doing, bring it round and we will look at it in detail.
